vegancupcakeNow that the snow and ice are on their way out, it’s the perfect time for a road trip! Grab a buddy, stock up on snacks, and fill up your ride (or charge it).

And if you need some outing ideas, why not opt for a food-focused adventure? You can eat your way across America, digging into desserts at some seriously amazing spots.

So with your sweet tooth in mind, here are six awesome vegan bakeries that are totally worth the drive:

Bunnie Cakes
Run by former Cupcake Wars contestant Mariana Cortez, this sweet treat emporium is Miami’s first-ever vegan bakery. The adorable heart-themed spot — right in the middle of Miami’s iconic arts district — is piled high with cupcakes (of course), whoopie pies, cakes in a cup, cookies, and even savory treats like pizza rolls, paninis, and empanadas. Bunnie Cakes is also all about the milkshakes, so you can sip s’mores or red velvet deliciousness too.

Parlour Vegan Bakery
At this incredible bakery, the treats are almost too pretty to eat. Keyword: ALMOST. Customers are so sweet on Parlour’s treats and foods that the owners recently opened a second location. At either spot you’ll find gorgeous cupcakes (in flavors like butterbeer and dunkaroo), cookie sandwiches, donuts, pop tarts and more — plus lunchtime items like salads (topped with faux meat), bowls, sandwiches and other goodies.

Vegan Treats
This renowed Pennsylvania spot is known for its wildly creative array of sweet stuff — donuts, pastries, candies, and cakes — all completely cruelty-free. Creations include confetti cake, sticky bun cheesecake, carrot cake, peanut butter pretzel cheesecake, Boston cream donuts, cinnamon buns, handmade chocolates and much, much more. They also sell soft serve ice cream — super score!

Sweetpea Baking Company
This special spot was Portland, Oregon’s (aka vegan heaven) first vegan bakery — and it’s more than just baked goods. Sweetpea sells breakfast foods, homemade soups, sammies, salads, bagels, and all kinds of pastries. Try a reuben; bacon scallion cream cheese on a bagel; or a red velvet cronut. In the owner’s words; “We have set out to prove that no animals need to be harmed to make a delicious moist cake, a soft doughnut, or a flaky scone.” And they’re proving it, all right.

Vegan Divas
Should you be strolling down NYC’s 1st Avenue, pop into this chic little spot. Snag some toasted coconut donuts, chocolate chip cookies, red velvet cupcakes, or blueberry lemon muffins. The spot was founded by 15-year+ vegan Fernanda Capobianco, so these recipes are the real deal. When in New York — live it up, vegan style.

Cinnaholic
Finally, if you’re touring some of the nation’s best vegan bakeries — you simply can’t skip Cinnaholic. A rapidly expanding chain, it’s like the Cinnabon you once knew and loved — sans animal products and with a TON of topping options. Seriously, these doughy delights can be made to suit every appetite. From bananas to oreos to cake batter frosting, there are 22 topping choices and 20 frosting options. Consider the possibilities! And because there are more than a dozen locations, you’re bound to run into one.
