First Look: DC VegFest 2019’s TryVeg Tasting Booth

TryVeg followers will recognize COK Vegan Food & Lifestyle Coach Jessica Carter–but have you ever seen her in action? Those in the Washington, DC area will have the opportunity to this weekend at the DC VegFest on Sunday, August 11th.

In its first year, the TryVeg Tasting Booth will be located on Nationals Park’s Terrace level. You’ll be able to join three amazing vegan chefs to learn how to make recipes sponsored by Follow Your Heart, Wayfare, and Eaton’s Jerk BBQ Sauce.

Won’t be able to make the festival? That’s okay! After the event, we’ll post the chefs’ delicious recipes right here for you to try.

Jessica Carter, Vegan Food & Lifestyle Coach, Compassion Over Killing

As Compassion Over Killing’s Vegan Food & Lifestyle Coach, Jessica organizes cooking demos, and develops videos, trainings, and multimedia content for TryVeg.com’s online platforms. She coordinates collaborations with vegan brands and influencers to provide people with helpful resources that they need to transition to and maintain a fulfilling vegan lifestyle. Her recipes have been featured on FOX45 Baltimore, Let’s Talk Live, and Good Morning Washington.

Jessica officially became a vegan in January 2016, after gradually eliminating animal products from her diet beginning in 2011. She is committed to equipping people with the information and tools that they need to positively impact their whole quality of life by embracing a plant-powered lifestyle.

Jessica will be making vegan nacho mac n’ cheese using Wayfare Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese!

Helanah Warren, Wellness Success Coach

Helanah is the Founder of Yogetree where she helps working professionals create & commit to their wellness goals so they can regain control of their health, happiness and well-being. She has worked as a Plant-based chef, Licensed Massage Therapist, Yoga Instructor and Meditation Educator where she helps people find work-life-balance, collectively increasing their productivity and quality of life by prioritizing their needs & wants through small lifestyle changes.

She has taught over 500 workshops that have educated hundreds of people on how to regain their health, mental clarity and peace of mind through building healthy habits. In 2018, she launched her #GetRight program: an 8-week online accelerator for professionals who need to take their healthy lifestyle to the next level.

Helanah will be making ginger miso noodle salad using Follow Your Heart Organic Miso Ginger Dressing.

Travis Flowers, Caribbean Vegan Recipe Developer & Content Creator

Travis Flowers aka Chef Flowaz, is senior Civil Engineering student at Howard University in Washington, DC from Montego Bay, Jamaica. With a passion for food and sustainable living, he started his Instagram page to inspire the world to eat more sustainably through his delicious Caribbean inspired recipes.

Travis will be making jerk BBQ chickpeas using Eaton’s Jerk Seasoning and Jerk BBQ Sauce.
